How
to Setup Multi Display LCD Stands or MountsSetting
up multiple displays is easier than you think, and there are two
ways to go about this. You must first decide whether you are
installing the multi monitor quad video card yourself into an
existing system, or whether you are looking for a
complete
multi-monitor system with the quad video card preinstalled. Once
your system is configured for multiple displays then you can choose
the right
LCD monitor mount.
To get started answer the questions below to identify
your objectives: |
Choose how many displays you would
like to have, 3, 4, 6 or more?
This is the starting point and will
determine which
video card(s) you will need to install. For 3 or 4 displays you will
use a four port quad video card. For 6 displays you will use a two
port + a four port quad video card. For more than 6 displays see our
QuadStation systems.
How about desktop space?
If you are using LCD flat panels or LCD T V displays,
multi-monitor LCD mounts are the
way to go. They will greatly maximize the efficiency of your working desktop space.
Most LCD, LCD T V, LCD HDTV monitors come with what is known
as
vesa mount hole pattern on the back. A small
mounting plate connects directly to the LCD then the mounting plate
connects to the vesa LCD monitor mount.
Should I allow for expansion?
If you think there is even a slight possibility you may want
additional displays in the future, allow for it now when
deciding how many displays to start with.

I have a laptop, can I have more than 1 display?
Yes you can but it is limited due to the technology of a
laptop. The limitation is in the laptop video card. In a desktop
you can simply change the video card to a multi port video
card. But with a laptop it is not that easy so a USB to VGA
adapter needs to be used. This makes it possible to expand beyond a single display on your
laptop. These external devices usually connect to a USB port
providing the additional monitor connections. |

your monitors together. It creates a much more organized and
productive workspace allowing you to be more profitable. Freestanding and wall mount LCD
styles are available and you can mix and match different sizes and models of LCDs as long as they all have the vesa mount hole
pattern on the back.
